Family of Scalable Radar Solutions
The Next Generation Surface Search Radar (NGSSR) is the Navy’s first multi-mission navigation radar that enhances warfighting capabilities and safety of navigation. This radar can be reconfigured through software updates and is designed to support combat systems, surface search, safety of navigation and periscope detection. Sea Tracker

ADELAIDE, South Australia – Ultra Maritime Australia has signed a two-year contract extension with Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) to provide in-service support to Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Electronic Support Systems. This extension builds on more than a decade of support Ultra Maritime has provided in support of RAN capabilities, including Engineering and Management services, Operational, Maintenance and Supply Support to platforms across the fleet.

The Ultra Maritime Australia team provides core support functions from facilities located in Adelaide, South Australia, and Perth, Western Australia, with dedicated Field Service Representatives providing on-call support to platforms throughout Australia and overseas. The systems supported under the contract are developed and maintained by Ultra Maritime Australia and provide significant critical Electronic Warfare (EW) capability to the RAN.

Ultra Maritime Provides Next Generation Torpedo Defense to Australia’s Hunter Class Frigates

ADELAIDE, Australia – Ultra Maritime, the premier provider of torpedo defence and anti-submarine warfare solutions, has been selected to provide next generation torpedo defence capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Hunter Class Frigate Program. This award adds to an expanding set of crewed and uncrewed vessels benefiting from Ultra Maritime’s pioneering technologies.

The Hunter class will deploy Ultra Maritime’s Surface Ship Torpedo Defence (SSTD), combining a single in-line towed array with automatic threat alert for unparalleled performance, maintaining a high probability of detection coupled with low false alarm rate whilst minimizing overall operator workload. The contract from BAE Systems Maritime Australia provides the RAN with a full “sense to effect” capability to keep ships and crews safe from torpedo threats.

Ultra Maritime previously announced that its Hull Mounted Sonar (HMS) has also been selected for the Hunter class. Both systems are included in the baseline Global Combat Ship anti-submarine warfare (ASW) design, meaning the RAN will share commonality with the UK, Canada, Norway, plus other countries that use this premiere hull form in the future. Ultra Maritime Reinforces Position as Premier ASW Provider with 50th SSTD System and Type 26 Expansion

London, UK – Ultra Maritime is continuing to grow its installed base of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) solutions on some of the world’s premier warships. Recently, Ultra Maritime’s UK flagship torpedo defense suite, ‘Sea Sentor’ Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD), passed its 50th successful sea acceptance test. At the same time, the Type 26 frigate, equipped with both SSTD and Ultra Maritime’s ‘Sea Searcher’ Hull Mounted Sonar (HMS) has continued its global expansion with its selection as the basis for Norway’s next generation frigate.

Together these milestones reflect the rapid pace of expansion and fielding of Ultra Maritime’s state-of-the-art ASW solutions. This expansion comes at a time when Ultra Maritime is simultaneously investing in non-traditional ASW technologies, like the UUV-deployable Sea Spear acoustic array, and the USV-ready Mission Pod for towed arrays, evolving rapidly to meet the new demands of a hybrid fleet.

Originally developed as the Royal Navy’s Sonar S2170 system, SSTD is a versatile solution that has been fitted to a wide range of warships and auxiliaries, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, tankers and support ships. The system uses sophisticated sensor-to-effector sonar technology to detect incoming torpedoes and counter them with acoustic soft-kill effectors. It is an essential protection mechanism for any capital ship.

Within the next 10 years, at least seven of the world’s leading Navies, including the Royal Australian Navy for the new Hunter Class Frigates and the Royal Canadian Navy for the new River Class Destroyers, will be relying on this system to counter torpedo threats and another 30 ships will be protected by this essential capability.

Ultra Maritime Opens London Facility Dedicated to Bringing Anti-Submarine Warfare Solutions to Global Allied Navies

London, UK – Today, Ultra Maritime officially opened its new integrated design and manufacturing center in London – Greenford, UK, hosting the right honourable Maria Eagle MP for a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour. Located just 10 miles west of central London, the new facility replaces the previous nearby location with a custom-designed, modern and streamlined work site for Ultra Maritime’s UK anti-submarine warfare (ASW) team.

This new facility demonstrates Ultra Maritime’s commitment and readiness to support the indigenous manufacturing goals of the UK Ministry of Defence, as well as a strong pivot towards anti-submarine warfare capabilities, recently laid out in the UK Strategic Defence Review. With more than 5600 square meters of office space, labs and a manufacturing production floor, Ultra Maritime currently has more than 130 employees on site with plans to expand by at least 50 more employees near term, and further expansion well into the future.

Ultra Maritime has been executing a long-term strategic investment plan, entirely with internal funding, to upgrade or renovate its sites across the UK, U.S., Canada and Australia, while similarly investing in novel, modern, high-tech ASW capabilities built at these facilities.
