Passive Directional Sonobuoys
DIFAR – Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording
AN/SSQ-53D DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53D DIFAR US Navy A-size sonobuoy is a passive directional sonobuoy. This is the recommended DIFAR sonobuoy for international customers with legacy MPA platforms. The AN/SSQ-53D can operate in the DIFAR acoustic sensor mode only.
AN/SSQ-53D(3) DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53D(3) Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) sonobuoy provides directional and omnidirectional acoustic data over a wide frequency range. It has the best 5Hz passive acoustic performance on the market and is the lightest A-size DIFAR sonobuoy available. The AN/SSQ-53D(3) is the only DIFAR NATO sonobuoy rated for sea-state 6 operation and is compatible with all western sonobuoy processors.
AN/SSQ-53F DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53F DIFAR US Navy A-size sonobuoy combines a passive directional and calibrated wide-band omni capability into a single multi-functional sonobuoy. This is the recommended DIFAR sonobuoy for international customer with legacy MPA platforms without GPS requirements. The AN/SSQ-53F can operate in three acoustic sensor modes: DIFAR, Constant Shallow Omni (CSO), and Calibrated Omni (CO).
AN/SSQ-53G DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53G DIFAR US Navy A-size sonobuoy combines a passive directional and calibrated wide-band omni capability into a single multi-functional sonobuoy. This is the recommended DIFAR sonobuoy for international customers flying P-8A and MA-60R aircraft. The AN/SSQ-53G can operate in four acoustic modes: DIFAR, Constant Shallow Omni (CSO), Calibrated Omni (CO), and Extended Calibrated Omni (XCO).
AN/SSQ-53G(GPS) DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53G(GPS) DIFAR US Navy A-size sonobuoy combines a passive directional and calibrated wide-band omni capability into a single multi-functional sonobuoy. This is the recommended DIFAR sonobuoy for maritime platforms with NMEA GPS requirements. The AN/SSQ-53G(GPS) can operate in four acoustic modes: DIFAR, Constant Shallow Omni (CSO), Calibrated Omni (CO), and Extended Calibrated Omni (XCO).
AN/SSQ-53H DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-53H DIFAR US Navy A-size sonobuoy combines a passive directional and calibrated wide-band omni capability into a single multi-functional sonobuoy. This is the recommended DIFAR sonobuoy for international customers flying P-8A and MH-60R aircraft. The AN/SSQ-53G can operate in four acoustic modes: DIFAR, Constant Shallow Omni (CSO), Calibrated Omni (CO), and Extended Calibrated Omni (XCO). The 53H also has additional sensors to aid in maritime operations
AN/SSQ-553G(B) & AN/SSQ-553(C) DIFAR Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-553G DIFAR G-size sonobuoy provides exceptional wide-band directional and omnidirectional performance in a compact package. The SSQ-553G takes its acoustic sensor and suspension system design from Ultra Maritime’s A-size SSQ-53D(3) DIFAR sonobuoy, which has the best available 5Hz passive performance on the market.
AN/SSQ-573 Multi-Mode Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-573 A-size DIFAR sonobuoy combines the proven passive acoustic performance of the AN/SSQ-53D(3) DIFAR sonobuoy with an all-digital electronics design. The AN/SSQ-573 is ideal for use as a receiver for multistatic active operations or as a passive receiver in high ambient noise conditions.
AN/SSQ-906G&H Omni-Directional Passive Surveillance Sonobuoy
The AN/SSQ-906G variant Low Frequency Analysis and Recording (LOFAR) sonobuoy combines a high-performance, wide frequency band omni-directional sensor with the proven in-buoy digital electronics of the AN/SSQ-955 HIDAR sonobuoy. The AN/SSQ-906H variant is designed primarily for shallow water operations close to the shoreline, or in the fresh water run-off environment of river estuaries. Both of these are G-size sonobuoys.
